Agricultural and pastoral production
  • Barel and wheat are the most common in the persians
  • Peas, lentils, mustard, garlic, onions, cucumbers, dates, apples, pomergranates, pears and apricots were added in the cereals
  • the most commen beverages in the persian empire were beer and wine
Trade and Commerce
  • as agriculture grew in the persian empire, so did long-distance trade with other countries such as india and egypt
  • each country supplied persha with such items as gold, ivory, lapis, turquiose, silver, iron, copper, tin and other goods
  • trading routes such as the persian royal road and sea routes through the red sea, the persian gulf and the arabian sea made trade easier
Labor Systems
  • slaves were a large part of the persian empire which were used to work on farms or usualy used in the millitary
  • there were two types of slaves:slaves that were imprisoned and sold which makes up most of the slave population and civilians who rebel against thr empire or fail to pay become slaves
  • slaves, unlie free classmen, cammot move and no choice to marry

  • the tomb of cyrus in an example of how persians built many of their structures
  • persia did not have machinary to build their buildings so they relied on slaves to build them
  • slaves built larger-scale projects such as roads, irrigation systems, city walls and palaces
